A Creative Christmas Beauty Session: Where Festive Meets Fierce with a bit of Horror

We took these holiday portraits to the next level.

We combined holiday glam with a little edge, and let me tell you—it’s a vibe. It'll make ya say, “Whoa, I NEED to do this!”

A Holiday Crown and a Candy Cane Twist: Behind the Scenes of a Creative Beauty Session

When Destiny and I discussed her session, we were all about holiday glam and horror. The plan? Start soft and festive, then dive into something bold and unexpected. And oh, did we deliver.

The Crown

We started with the Christmas crown D.I.Y. crafted buy yours truly. Pretty greens , rich reds, and subtle sparkle. It was holiday elegance. She looked like she’d just stepped out of a winter fairytale.

The Doll

Then it was time to do something whimsical I used to turn people in to dolls and it had been a while, so I took a few shots to for that idea. Big, exaggerated eyes, rosy cheeks, and a painted-on pout created that perfect toy-like aesthetic. Added a bow and some snow for a more festive doll.

The Candy Cane Shift

Once we’d captured that dreamy holiday magic, it was time to add the edge. Enter: the candy cane.

Not your typical peppermint prop. I often throw out my ideas and Destiny executes them as if she's in my head and can see my vision. With bold makeup, dramatic shadows, and a little fake blood, the vibe shifted from classic holiday cheer to something a little darker. Just like we like it.

The moment we saw the candy cane staged like it was pierced through her jaw, she transformed to play the part. The result? A set of photos that were equal parts creepy, artistic, gorgeous and absolutely unforgettable.

The Fun

The whole session was a creative playground. It wasn’t about getting “perfect” shots; it was about experimenting, laughing, and capturing moments that felt completely original. And let’s be real—how many people can say they’ve got a portrait where a candy cane is a creepy fashion statement?

Why We Loved This Shoot

This session was a reminder of why I love what I do. It’s about pushing boundaries, creating something that stands out, and giving people a chance to see themselves in a new light. Whether it’s soft and pretty or bold and daring. I love connecting beauty and gore, soft and tough, the combos of these type of opposites. This one will definitely be one to remember because these images are fabulous.
